Types of Fire Extinguisher Cabinets
We carry many types of fire extinguisher cabinets for our clients in Florida to select from. These include:
Semi-Recessed Wall Projections – One of our most popular cabinets, semi-recessed wall projections feature clear plastic or glass windows with trims that do not extend more than 2 1/2″ from the wall. This makes them ideal for installation in corridors and other areas where minimizing protrusion is essential.
Surface Mounted Cabinets – These project 4″ or more from the wall, which means to remain ADA compliant, these must be mounted with the leading edge at or lower than 27″ from the floor. One of the advantages of these surface mounted cabinets is that they are easily visible throughout the room.
Bubble Cabinets – Bubble cabinets are ADA compliant and don’t extend more than 4″ from the wall. These cabinets are easily accessible and allow for rapid use of the fire extinguisher in an emergency.

Frequently Asked Questions About Fire Extinguisher Cabinets
Are Fire Extinguisher Cabinets Necessary?
Cabinets help protect the fire extinguisher from damage and ensure that it is always ready to go. Cabinets also help protect the extinguisher from UV rays and chemical exposures that can diminish their effectiveness. This is particularly helpful when the extinguisher is placed outdoors.
Are There Regulatory Requirements to Install a Fire Extinguisher Cabinet?
OSHA and NFPA do not require storage of fire extinguishers within a fire extinguisher cabinet. However, there are regulations within some municipalities and the Americans with Disabilities Act you may need to follow. If applicable, you must ensure it’s at the proper height, does not protrude more than four inches from the wall, and more.
What Are Fire Extinguisher Cabinets Made From?
Modern fire extinguisher cabinets can be made from wood, plastic, metal, or glass. However, most newer systems incorporate plastic rather than glass to reduce injury risk when removing the extinguisher from the cabinet.
